         Pre-pandemic, Microsoft's developer community was mostly concentrated in the bustling streets of San Francisco. However, as the pandemic brought about significant changes and many businesses were forced to adapt and embrace remote work, this shift resulted in a new wave of community members from all corners of the world, and Microsoft didn't want to exclude these new faces once everything was returning to normal again.


The Obstacles

          As Microsoft delved into finding a solution, they explored various 2D and 3D video conferencing software options, including their own well-used software, Teams. However, none of these platforms could exactly fit their visions and need for large-scale enterprise conferences.

          Their search led them to a 3D video conferencing company, All Space VR. While this platform had its merits and was well-suited for smaller, more intimate gatherings, it fell short when it came to enterprise-level business conferences. Still, the team at Microsoft attempted to make-do by experimenting with a few customizations, but it was clear that All Space VR couldn't fulfill their requirements. The most significant roadblock they faced with All Space VR was its limitation of accommodating only 80 people. Microsoft needed a solution that could host larger numbers, as well as provide essential features such as nametags, advertisements, and virtual booths. It seemed like an insurmountable challenge until they discovered Venu.


Venu's Solution

          Recognizing Venu's expertise in creating immersive and interactive event experiences on a large scale, Microsoft approached Venu with their dilemma. With Venu's technology, they hosted their first test conference, which welcomed an impressive 200 to 300 participants from all over the world, and took place within a vast virtual reality expo, attracting attendees from companies like Microsoft and Samsung, renowned universities, gaming studios, as well as featuring multiple influential keynote speakers, including Ishita Kapur, Director of Windows Mixed Reality at Microsoft, and Joanna Popper, Global Head of Virtual Reality at HP.

          The two-day multiday event showcased the true potential of Venu's platform, with 40 companies utilizing the virtual booths to engage with customers. The attendees were captivated by the immersive environment, which allowed them to vividly explore the offerings of each company and authentically interact with other attendees. The virtual conference not only replicated the feeling of being physically present but also enhanced the experience with these innovative features unique to Venu.
